January 2009 a Delightful Dusting of Snow Today

Sunday Morning:


Just a dusting of snow appeared outside this morning. It is Sunday and as I look outside the window, I see a very faint snowing outside my window. I love the snow. Especially this graceful, clean, delicate snowfall. It isn't sticking much but as I peer out into the sky, it looks like tiny wee little snowflakes coming down from the sky.

The silver glass globe on a wrought iron pedestal is one that our Aunt Eloise Riel from Sumter, South Carolina sent to us years ago. It continues to highlight our back garden. We have several more around the yard but they blew off during a wind storm and I had to put them up until summer. They didn't break either!

When it snows, I always think of SNOWGLOBES. When I look out the window and see the softly falling snowflakes, I feel like I am inside the snowglobe looking out. The snow is still trickling down from the sky as it has been doing for the past hour or more.

I can't believe that the only pictures that I took on Christmas Day with the Family were all in my kitchen. It was cold, snowy and almost no cars on the road. Our children came for brunch and we opened our gifts to each other and then the kids decided they better leave. The roads were still bad. It was fun though sitting in our living room opening gifts and watching all the snow outside our window.

Here are the pictures that were taken that day. Also one picture of our Christmas Tree this year. I've resorted to a small ceramic tree on a skirted table top with my favorite little Christmas table cloth. The cloth has been in our family since living in Warner Robins, Georgia. Our first Christmas there I bought it at our church Bazaar. It was hand painted by two ladies in our church ward there ( Aunt Kat and Carol Philipps) they are both deceased now.

I wanted to show you where we are this weekend and how pretty it is. It has been a very nice meeting and place to enjoy. The scenery is just breathtaking. The Gorge is just down the street from where we are staying. We drove through the pass this weeekend for a dental meeting and it was snowing and sleeting all the way thorugh the pass. Below is a link to show you where we are this weekend and what the cabins look like . They are really fancy,,, soaking tub, glass shower,, everything is either granite or slate on the floors. Leather couches , flat screen tv, wonderful food, king size beds with comfy sheets, etc. double glass fireplace,, ,I love that,,,, oooh that is neat to see the fireplace from your bed or on the other side on the couch. The dinners at night for the dental group were very very good,, I was impressed, sometimes these types of places don't have good food, but this was outstanding. They are so much fun to sew and have turned out reallly cute. I took some beading to work on but didn't do it as I had so much fun working on the pillow cases and also did some knitting.
